DR. KAREN HAGERMAN
Karen Hagerman, D. Mus.,has 30 years of experience in teaching private voice lessons to students of all levels, ages 12 through adult. She earned the Doctor of Music degree in Voice Performance at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where she studied with Jean Deis, Gerhard Husch,
Paul Matthen, John Wustman, Gianna D'Angelo and Helmut Rilling. She received her B.A. in Music from Oberlin College and her M.M. from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
Dr. Hagerman has served on the voice faculties of the following institutions:
Rutgers University-Camden (2003-present)
University of Alabama School of Music
Dr. Hagerman served as Executive Director of the Haddonfield School of Performing Arts from 1992 to 2003, where she initiated and managed the Haddonfield School of Performing Arts Concert Series, a series of approximately six concerts per year. She managed a faculty of approximately 40 musicians for more than 11 years. During these years, she managed over 300 student recitals of students studying all instruments and voice.
Dr. Hagerman has been teaching voice lessons in NJ since 1992 at her private voice studio in Haddonfield. Her philosophy of learning is that a relaxed atmosphere in which a student feels free to experiment and make mistakes leads to the most productive and efficient learning, resulting in confidence and joy in singing.
